Winter just doesn’t seem to be in any hurry to end this year! We have had frequent snow flurries over the past few days although the ski season in Praz-sur-Arly finished on 4 April. There’s still masses of snow up top on the summits which should please all mountain lovers whether they be hikers or skiers (some neighbouring resorts are still open for a few more days). As for the Tourist Office, we are already preparing the summer season. In fact our website has already changed to its orange summer colour!

Varoche: the end of an era

It’s now a couple of months since the opening of the new Crêt du Midi detachable chairlift, i.e. time to dismantle the old Varoche chairlift. The first part of the operation was the removal of the seats. You will be able to follow the whole process step-by-step on our website.

Miss Haute-Savoie is from Praz-sur-Arly!

Many congratulations to Alison MONCENIX, who has just been elected Miss Haute-Savoie 2008. Last Saturday, the young beauty from Praz-sur-Arly outshone the other contestants at the Casino de Saint-Gervais and was unanimously elected by the public. Quite an event for Praz! Next stage: the election of Miss Pays de Savoie on 13 September.

Sheep farm visit a big success

As of the first week, the visit to the Praz-sur-Arly sheep farm has been a huge success with the holidaymakers and locals alike. Two additional visits are therefore being organized, on Wednesday 23 and 30 April in the afternoon, to satisfy the demand of nature lovers. These visits are free of charge.

It’s lambing season again!

Is there anything more beautiful than a birth? And as happy events never come alone, it’s not just one birth but more than two hundred lambs that will be born this spring in Praz-sur-Arly! One of our sheep-breeders is offering free visits to his farm every Wednesday throughout the month of April. Come and learn all about the life of sheep!

Great day for the smugglers

In spite of having been postponed by a week, almost 200 participants took part in the Val d’Arly Smugglers’ Trail last Saturday. The weather was absolutely fabulous - ideal for smuggling, above all because many of the walkers were in disguise. Here are some photos of the event.
