We promised you a new canyoning course, well it's done! It was recently opened by Christophe Jond and Mathieu Campergue. Inaugurated on 19 June 2001 , it has been much appreciated by canyoning lovers. It is a very beautiful canyon, quite technical (a lot of ropes down) rated AD (“Assez difficile”). Canyoning is an exciting sport but it is not without risks; it is therefore imperative that you be accompanied by mountain specialists who know the way because each canyon has its own peculiarities. As long as you respect the security instructions, all you have to do is jump in the water for a 5-hour adventure! High point of the course: the 40-metre Potty waterfall. An unforgettable experience.
Rating : AD
Length : 1200 metres
Rope : 2x40 metres minimum
Ideal periods : from June to September
The Praz sur Arly guides organize weekly outings so that you can practise canyoning in complete safety. Contact Christophe Jond (Tel: 06 85 52 49 05) or Mathieu Campergue (Tel: 06 08 70 78 37).
Access (1 hour’s walk - see the map below): Take the Thouvassières road which you follow to the top. Park your car at the Grands Esserts car park (1100 metres) and then follow the path marked first T1 and, at the crossroad, T2, at which point go straight ahead in the direction of the Alpage des Bettez, and not to the left which leads to Les Chateaux. The start of the course is at the far end of the Alpage des Bettez (1450 m).
