HIKING
There are over a hundred kilometres of marked footpaths starting in Praz sur Arly. From one-hour strolls to one or two day excursions, there is no lack of possibilities.
Consult our guidebook to see some of the nicest excursions. A “topo” guide is on sale at the Tourist Office (7,65 €) or in our online boutique. Each week our guides organize outings with different themes.

If you wish to do a longer trip, consult the following site: The GR Tour of the Mont Blanc Area (in French only). This is a superb 160 km hiking tour lasting 6 to 10 days, starting in Praz sur Arly. The trail is accessible to all hikers. A “topo” guide exists, published by the French Federation of Pedestrian Excursions (ref. 044).
Overnight in a refuge :
Two refuges are open all summer in Praz-sur-Arly:
* Le Petit Tétras: Altitude restaurant, situated on the path of the “Grande Randonnée” Tour of the Mont Blanc Area , below the summit of the Crêt du Midi at 1700 metres. Open from mid-June to mid-September, lunchtime and evenings. Information and reservations : 06 62 49 99 21
* Plan de l’Are Gîte (1732 metres). This is a communal refuge. Reservations at the Tourist Office : 04 50 21 90 57

CLIMBING
The natural sites are legion in our mountain ranges. You will find many described on our "climbing sites" page.
There is also a climbing tower, opened in 2002, in the “Plaine des Belles”.
Cost: 3 € per person (2 hours).
An FFME or CAF licence is obligatory.
