“Short walks” Collection
No. 1: the Evettes Lake The hiking leaflet |fr| *
A lovely forest walk, ideal for a short family outing. It’s a modest-sized lake and not suitable for swimming. But it’s a very pleasant spot for a picnic in the mountains. Various educational panels are dotted along the path and there is a marmot observation site.

Departure: the Grabilles parking lot. Access: take the RN 212 in the direction of Flumet. Just before the sign at the exit of Praz village, take the Grabilles road on the left ( marked "Les Bernards"). Follow the road to the end where you will find the parking, just before a wood.
Leaflet No. 2: Les Epines Blanches (download leaflet)
This path, also with a number of educational panels, was opened in 2006. It’s an ideal way to discover the mountains and admire the panoramas. The view of the Mont Blanc range is spectacular and the forested pathway is very pleasant.

Leaflet No. 3: Les Granges
A pleasant walk on a small road overlooking the village including a section on a panoramic pathway between two typical hamlets, all in full view of the Mont Blanc.

Leaflet No. 4: the Mont du Villard
A family walk between Praz-sur-Arly and Megève without any particular technical difficulty (half of the itinerary is on the small Bellevarde road), but which does require a certain amount of endurance.

Leaflet No. 5: Les Chateaux
You won’t find a castle at the end of this lovely forest walk but you will have a magnificent view of Megève and the Val d’Arly.

Departure: the Potty parking lot. From the RN 212, head towards the ski area. Immediately after the bridge over the Arly river, turn left on the Thouvassières road. Follow the road right up to the top where you can park.

Leaflet No. 6: Bois des Têtes
A walk through beautiful spruce forests, the second part of which is very wild as few people go there. You then emerge onto a majestic panorama of the Mont Blanc.

Leaflet No. 7: the Massif de Vorès

If you think that the walk to the Mont de Vorès from Praz (7h15) is too long, this shorter itinerary (from Notre-Dame-de-Bellecombe) will allow you to admire the magnificent scenery of these crests, the gateway to the Beaufortain.

Departure: Plan Désert. After Notre-Dame-de-Bellecombe, drive for about another 3 km to the Planay parking. Then turn left in the direction of Plan Dessert Lake. Drive on for another 4 km. Park near the Plan Désert lake.
Leaflet No. 8: Le Gateau
No doubt this lovely mountain got its name from its layered-cake appearance. It overlooks Flumet and has a magnificent view of the Val d’Arly. The itinerary passes by the Bonne Fontaine chapel where the Virgin Mary is supposed to have appeared...

Chevan is a lovely alpine pasture, a good illustration of mountain pastoralism. A pleasant place for a picnic, above all since the marmots are not far away.

A superb view of all the surrounding mountains, in the heart of Praz’ alpine pastures. The Petit Tétras mountain refuge, just below, is a nice stop for lunch, dinner or to spend a night in the mountains.

Leaflet No. 11: Tête de Christomet

A walk in the wilds on a narrow path passing below the Tête de Charmot and arrives at the Aravis range. The view is breathtaking.

Departure: the Granges parking area. Access: take the Tonnaz road (opposite the Town Hall), At the junction, turn right on the Granges road. Park at the start of the Ecouley path.

A magnificent itinerary which offers many different views of the whole region. If you think the walk might be a little long, plan a stop at the Plan de l’Are refuge which is on the way.

Véry is one of the most beautiful walking destinations in Praz. Its vast alpine pastures are a foretaste of the Beaufortain which starts here. The variety of scenery will really delight you.

Departure: the Leutaz parking lot. Access: take the RN 212 in the direction of Megève. At the end of the straight bit of road, turn right in the direction of “Cassioz”. Follow the signs marked “Rochebrune” up to the Leutaz road. Drive up to the very end of the road.
Leaflet No. 14: Christomet

A long, essentially wooded, hike which brings you to the Christomet chapel, a former place of pilgrimage from where you will have the entire Aravis range lying before you.

Departure: the Bellevarde parking lot. Access: go up the Ballevarde road (second left after the pharmacy). Park at the end of the road, making sure that you are not blocking any of the local residents.
Leaflet No. 15: the Mont de Vorès
Also called the “Tête des Trois Coins”. Near Véry, this spot is also an illustration of the neighbouring Beaufortain alpine pastures. The itinerary covers three of Praz’ classic mountains: the Crêt du Midi, the Ban Rouge and the Mont de Vorès.
