Praz-sur-Arly was honoured with a long report at the end of the 1 o’clock news today, Tuesday 24 January 2011. It was filmed on Wednesday, 11 January, at the farm of René-Marc and Karine FEIGE, producers of reblochon cheese at their Belles Violettes Farm. A tasting session with Belgian tourists was also filmed. You can see the report again in this article.

Last Friday evening, the Town Hall launched a new Facebook site dedicated to the history and heritage of Praz-sur-Arly. Over 300 old photos are already online and further documents and videos are expected. Check out the site, make comments and add your own archives!

France 3′s “MIDI EN FRANCE” programme was reporting from Megève every morning this week. Loïc Ballet was particularly interessed in the art of the Mégève region. In his meeting with Louis Chabaud, Sylvie Bessy and the Praz les Arts Association, the journalist discovered outsider art. Here is the video of this lovely report on our village.

Following the success of the 1st Yooner Derby, with over 100 participants and two champions (Norah Ferkous and Luc Grillet), the Tourist Office, in partnership with the TSL Outdoor Company, challenge you once again to try to become the new French Champion of this discipline on 17 and 18 March 2012!

The “Grande Odyssée Savoie Mont Blanc” is the most difficult international dog-sled race in the world because of the topography of the mountains it covers. Each year, twenty of the best mushers in the world compete in it. Three stages are taking place in the Espace Diamant, with the Praz sur Arly-Crest Voland Cohennoz stage on Wednesday, 11 January. Come and watch the start at 14.00 and the entertainment beforehand at 13.30.

On Saturday 7 January, Thomas Fanara’s Fan Club is travelling to Adelboden in Switzerland to cheer on their champion. You too can join the group and go with them by bus from Praz-sur-Arly. It’s a day’s roundtrip, leaving at 4 a.m. from the Church Square. Inscriptions at the Tourist Office. A great atmosphere is guaranteed with this fun-loving group of Fanara fans! Third last year, Thomas is hoping for another podium placing on his favourite piste.

The 22nd Montgolfiades will take place in Praz-sur-Arly on the weekend of 7 and 8 January 2012. On the programme: regular and initiation flights for the public, free fixed-line flights, kite and glider workshops, mini hot air balloons with the Lilliput Balloon Club of Reims, and the Véronique Zeminski vernissage and exhibition.

The Thouvassières-Cassioz circuit is a new marked itinerary for snowshoe walkers. After the Evettes Lake circuit, this is a new path which takes about 1.1/2 hours round-trip and starts at the parking lot at the foot of the ski slopes. You will discover magnificent views of Praz-sur-Arly, the Mont Charvin and Megève, with a large open expanse to Cassioz and the pretty hamlet of Thouvassières.

From 10 p.m. onwards on Saturday 31 December, come and join us in the Church Square for a completely crazy event! For one evening, Praz-sur-Arly will be transformed into an open-air nightclub with live mix music and fireworks. It’s free and open to all. A great ambiance is guaranteed!

With excellent snow conditions – 60 cms at the bottom and 150 cms at the top – our ski area partially opened on Saturday with 57 lifts and 85 pistes now available in the Val d’Arly domain. The snow bulletin is unfortunately not up-to-date, for which we apologize.
