Description
➡️ In a nutshell
“His name was Ysangraz” is the latest instalment of the Grand Spectacle de Combloux. This second season brings together over 60 volunteers – actors, musicians, craftspeople and local residents – in a living tableau rooted in local history and the mountain landscape.
Conceived by Louis-Marie, the village chemist, together with a director and sound and lighting professionals, the show blends artistic creation, collective commitment and historical facts drawn from the history of France and the region.
➡️ What to expect at the Grand Spectacle
As night falls, the town hall car park transforms into an open-air stage, with Combloux church as a backdrop.
We follow a fictionalised plot where Alpine legends intertwine with memories of the First World War.
Acting, music and lighting immerse the audience in an atmospheric experience, driven by the energy of the volunteers.

➡️ A message from the Grand Spectacle Association:
Each season of the Grand Spectacle de Combloux explores different themes, aiming to convey to visitors—and to our children—certain aspects of rural life across various eras, rooted in time through elements of French history.
We hope, in addition to providing entertainment, to offer a glimpse into the lives of our ancestors and their values, whilst also sharing certain realities of rural life, such as working the land, the joys and hardships of agro-pastoralism, forest management, and community life.
We also hope to spark young people’s interest in history, for there can be no writing of the future without knowledge of the past.
The performances will be based on fictionalised plots, to allow the audience to identify more closely with the characters and to provide genuine entertainment.
