Description

Whether craft, industry or civil engineering, engineering has always had to deal with slope and relief constraints. From Chedde to the Piralotaz bridge, this dimension of risk has proved particularly decisive: it conditions development choices and guides the technical solutions implemented. Through concrete, long-term examples, this talk highlights the way in which technical ingenuity and the perception of risk have constantly interacted, shaping the evolution of infrastructure in an area subject to the movements of Mont-Blanc and the whims of the Arve. Lecture by Samir Mahfoudi.
