A mountain of Inspiration

NEW EXHIBITION – A MOUNTAIN OF INSPIRATION

Created as part of the process of obtaining the “Pays d’Art et d’Histoire” label, come and discover – or rediscover – the village through the eyes of different artists. Part of the exhibition is located in the Tourist Office and an outdoor extension has been installed along the banks of the river Arly.

Why the banks of the river? Well, to have a lovely place to walk where everyone can see the artwork! In winter, in a soft white atmosphere after a hearty meal; and in summer, in the cool shade, listening to the gurgling water of the river. The path is lit all year round in the evening, allowing even night owls to stroll around after dark.

Eight artists have contributed to this exhibition:

+ Louis Chabaud

+ Olivier Caron

+ Babeth Socquet Meilleret

+ Alex Bertaina

+ Christian Burdet

+ Nathalie Langlais

+ Brigitte Sanino

+ Winter

There are 24 different art works, all representative of the village of Praz sur Arly, but all different in the technique used by the artists. There are 12 works in each exhibition location. But we won’t tell you any more, just come and see for yourselves in Praz sur Arly!

A FEW WORDS FROM THE ARTISTS

Alex Bertaina

“In 1997, I met Jean Louis Droit, a French art dealer who took my art across the Alps [from Italy]. This meeting revolutionized my concept of painting and use of colour: in fact, since then I have really started to have fun with colour. Also, while continuing to use brushes, I discovered knife-painting and the potential of consistence and brilliance of colour. That’s how I conquered France!”.  https://fr.bertaina.it/

Nathalie Langlais

“Having followed many different paths in my life as an artist, I have finally ended up in the heart of the mountains which have never ceased to inspire me. From traditional scenes of climbing up to the mountain pastures to abstract research on the elements that make up these landscapes, I try to express all the emotions that the contemplation of nature suggests to me.”

Babeth Socquet-Meilleret

“Originally from Marseilles, I have been living in this beautiful Haut Val d’Arly valley for the last forty years. My main activity now that I am retired is watercolour painting. This medium has always allowed me to paint places, buildings or even characters that inspire me. Architecture is of course my preference, since it is the profession I practised for 25 years, interspersed with a few years when I ran the Petit Tétras chalet-refuge with my husband. I hope that this exhibition will evoke memories for you, or enable you to benefit from the well-being that we have living here in our mountains» . https://www.instagram.com/babaqua74/
