Description
Les camps chantants has a long and distinguished history, a magnificent adventure that has lasted for 70 years.
Abbé Bonnel, founder of the Institut Saint-Grégoire-le-Grand in Lyon, then Fathers Louis Bouiller, director of the Institut de Musique Sacrée in Lyon, and Marcel-Joseph Godard, have for generations brought the joy of spiritual discovery through choral singing to children aged 10 to 17.
In 2003, parents took up the baton and created the Association Montagne et Joie. The camps are approved by the Direction Départementale de la Jeunesse des Sports et de la Cohésion Sociale. They are supervised by qualified activity leaders and professional choirmasters.
No special knowledge is required to take part, just a love of singing. In fact, the main activity consists of putting together a choral program, working three and a half hours a day. This work culminates in concerts of sacred and secular music in local churches.
