LEISURE AND SPORTS ACTIVITIES IN PRAZ-SUR-ARLY, THE PAYS DU MONT-BLANC AND THE VAL D’ARLY
Sporting activities in Praz sur Arly:
– Themed Hikes (marmots, ibex, glaciers, panorama of Mont Blanc, etc) and accompanied half-day hikes. Contact Mountain Guides Office: 04 50 21 55 11.
– Initiation flights in a hot air balloon: Contact Alpes Montgolfière: 04 50 55 50 60.
– Praz Lac Aventures: Open on long weekends in May by reservation (07 67 22 56 72). Take to the heights for a good dose of fun and excitement for all the family.
– Cani rando with 3 D Nordic: by reservation: 06 11 66 35 04.
In the area:
– Escaladventure: located in Hauteluce (14.5km), this is an adventure course where you will discover classic workshops such as bridges, footbridges, ziplines as well as workshops representing mountain activities (VIA FERRATA, climbing…). Reservation essential on 04 79 38 83 02
– Paragliding: Two possibilities leaving from Praz or Megève: Fabien JAMBON on 06 70 07 51 21 or Megève Baptême Parapente: 06 62 13 27 71.
– Côte 2000 Aventure in Megève: Tree climbing course (from 5 years old). Open daily by reservation: 06 76 29 71 04.

LEISURE AND CULTURAL ACTIVITIES IN PRAZ SUR ARLY
– Belles Leisure Park: Manu and Jude are delighted to welcome you. It’s “The place to be” for the family and kids! Games for all ages – multisports ground (basketball, football, handball, volleyball) pyracorde, pétanque, tennis, body-building equipment and zipline, outsider art mini-golf, restaurant. Open from Wednesday to Sunday from 10.30. Closed on Monday and Tuesday.
– Exhibition: “Sports and the mountains, the big jump!”, or how winter sports have transformed the Pays du Mont-Blanc. Inside at the Tourist Office and also outside along the banks of the River Arly.
IN THE AREA:
– Cinema du Mont-Blanc in Sallanches (18km): 04 50 18 39 10.
– The Fairytale House in Notre Dame de Bellecombe (7km), open daily from 10.00-19.00. An unusual, unique and original exhibition, imagined and created with the family, for young and old alike, in paper paste and salt paste.
– Val d’Arly Cheese Cooperative in Flumet (2.5km) open daily from 8.30 to 19.30.
– Visit the Saint-Nicolas-la-Chapelle Church (7km) with its double-lantern bell tower.
– MEGEVE: The town centre and the Saint-Jean-Baptiste Church (5km). The Calvary Walk (an hour’s walk above Megève with fifteen chapels and oratories representing the Stations of the Cross). The Upper Val d’Arly Museum (04 50 91 81 00).
– THE VAL D’ARLY AND THE BEAUFORTAIN: Notre-Dame-de-Bellecombe, Col des Saisies (18km), Hauteluce (Baroque church), Beaufort (cheese factory), Arêches, return via Conflans (medieval city) and Albertville.
– THE ARAVIS PASS: Go through Flumet towards La Clusaz and stop at the Aravis Pass. A change of scenery guaranteed! You can also reach Annecy and its famous lake in less than 1 hour.
– COMBLOUX: Its baroque church with its typical bulb; and the granite path: a 1km walk through the forest where huge glacial erratic rocks, deposited about 15,000 years ago during the retreat of the glacier, still remain.
– CORDON: walk around and discover the village. Exceptional view of the Mont Blanc.
– The Aiguille du Midi in Chamonix Mont-Blanc (36km), cable car every 15 or 30 minutes depending on numbers. In just 20 minutes, you’ll be transported to an altitude of 3,842 metres, right in the heart of the Mont-Blanc Massif. Don’t miss the Pas dans le Vide: a glass box with windows on 5 sides and more than a thousand metres of open space beneath your feet. Access forbidden to under-3s and not recommended for under-5s. Reservation obligatory.
– The Mer de Glace with the Montenvers Train. Cogwheel trains run on gradients of over 9%, and there are 5 of them in France. This makes the Montenvers Train a unique experience not to be missed. The 5.1 km journey between Chamonix-Mont-Blanc and the Montenvers site is on the side of the mountain. After a 20-minute climb, you reach the terminus at an altitude of 1,913 metres! The view of the Drus, the Grandes Jorasses and the Grands Charmoz is breathtaking. Closed from 13 to 31 May 2024 for works.
– The Château des Rubins: The Observatoire des Alpes in Sallanches (18km away) offers you an innovative scenography made up of around fifty interactive modules spread over four floors covering different themes. The new tour covers more than 500m2, and takes around two hours to complete in an immersive atmosphere of light and sound. Open from 10am to 6pm. 04 50 90 83 03.
– Short walks around a lake: Praz sur Arly lake, Javen lake in Megève (11km), Flumet lake (6km), Green lake in Passy Plaine-Joux (27km), Ilettes lake in Sallanches (22km), Passy lake (18km).
– The Saint Gervais Thermal Baths: The Mont Blanc Baths are the ideal place to meet up and share a relaxing moment with your partner, family or friends in naturally warm thermal water. 04 50 47 54 57.
– The Merlet Park: Located in Les Houches (36km) is open from 1 May to 29 September 2024, daily from 10.00 to 18.00, except Mondays. Reservation obligatory: 07 67 22 82 69.
– The Jardin des Cimes: Located in Passy (26 km) is an invitation to discover different gardens of the world during an hour’s walk. Open as of 25 May. 04 50 21 50 87.
